Douglas Wood wears many hats. The author of Old Turtle and many other books has also cultivated a life surrounded by nature and music. This Sunday, April 6th, Wood will be performing at First United Methodist Church in Duluth at 3pm for a Community Earth Day Concert.
"I began my career as a musician," says Wood who performed what he calls Earth Songs around the country long before he began writing books. During performances, Wood aims to rekindle connections to the outdoors. "If we can just create a little spark, something that ignites someone's imagination or their memory of a time when they felt really close to the earth... anything that does that, then I would say I've had a successful little program, a successful interchange with somebody." This weekend's event is free, with free-will monetary offerings being accepted.
And there's always something on the horizon for Wood. A third installment of his ongoing memoir has been submitted for publication, and he's often leading trips into the wilderness through the Road Scholar program. More information about Douglas Wood's endeavors and offerings is available on his website.
You can hear Green Visions at 8:20am every Wednesday on Northland Morning.
