For singer-songwriter Ben Weaver, the grind of bouncing from one backstage to the next led to a change in his entire approach to touring. For years, Weaver got to know and appreciate the outdoors by biking to performances. "That was a huge part of my path," says Weaver, "being outside, interacting with the land."
Though he doesn't bike to shows as frequently these days, Weaver still holds high his relationships with people and with 'non-human entities' of the world around him. Weaver cites these relationships as a source for self-discovery and personal growth. "For me [self-discovery] has happened through poetry and my relationships."
Ben Weaver's latest album, titled Stay With, is now available on his website. Weaver hopes that listeners will take the time to listen to the album in the same way that most people read books. "Whether it's at home with headphones or at these listening gatherings I'm trying to do... just be present and listen."
You can hear Green Visions at 8:20am every Wednesday on Northland Morning.
