Backyard Almanac: February Gives Cold Shoulder as Owls Search for Food

This Valentine's Day, the only thing that February has brought residents of the Northland is colder temperatures. Naturalist Larry Weber says that his morning walks this week have consistently been -20°F or below. Yet, as long as you are prepared for the cold, the clear skies have given residents a great chance to get outdoors.

Going to the birds, the love birds are flying behind the winter owls this week, as the irruption continues to come out of the Great White North. The search for food is on among the avians, but the temperatures make it hard to get nutrients.

You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
