Backyard Almanac: Warm Days, Groundhogs, and Baby Bears

With a stretch of warmer days sprinkled into the last week of January, the average temperature for the month won't be quite as cold. However, it will likely still be colder than average, making January 2025 the end of a long stretch of months with higher-than-average temps.

The "groundhog" will be poking out of its home in a few days, but Larry Weber warns against relying on the animal for weather predictions. One thing that can be appropriately anticipated is the arrival of baby bears. Birthing will be happening soon, with the baby bears staying very close to mom for the first several months.

You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
