Once again, a month ends with rainfall well below normal. Between September and October, the Northland only saw about an inch and a quarter of precipitation. Whether November will correct this dry spell is yet to be seen.
For Larry Weber, there have been various critter sightings, all of which are doing their best to prepare for the looming winter season. Several finches are currently on the move, as are sparrows and snow buntings. Beavers have been working hard, swimming to retrieve branch for their cache. Chipmunks are scurrying about, also working hard to pack away food. Otters and squirrels are also very active right now.
And don't forget to change your clocks this weekend. Sunday morning will be an hour longer than usual, making the sunrise an hour earlier than we've become accustom.
You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
