Tips for Hardy Gardeners: Plants for the Future and Plantings to Memorialize the Past

Set your alarm. The Duluth Flower Garden Society is hosting their annual plant sale beginning at 8am this Saturday at the Rose Garden in Duluth. The sale will last until 10am or until there's nothing left to buy - whichever comes first. Tom Kasper advises getting there early.

With Memorial Day coming up, Kasper is planting a tree in remembrance of a lost friend. While there is something traditional about bringing flowers to cemeteries and memorials, there can be a lasting commemoration while also propagating life. "Anytime we plant, it's such an important improvement to the community or to the environment," says Kasper. "Giving special meaning to that, for somebody that has passed away, makes it additionally important."

You can hear Tips for Hardy Gardeners every other Tuesday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
