The Worldwide Teach-In on Climate and Justice begins on March 29th and goes through Earth Day on April 22nd. The near month-long teach-in includes over 200 events and speakers from around the globe as well as local in-person events in Duluth.
The local events have been coordinated by Tone Lanzillo who writes on climate issues for The Reader and the Duluth News Tribune and hosts a series called Climate Duluth on PAC-TV. The Teach-In, which is sponsored by Bard College in New York and is in its fourth year, was initially void of events in Duluth. "This year for the teach-in they had nothing going on in Duluth," says Lanzillo. "I decided to dive in with a few friends and try to create a program here."
Local events include three in-person gatherings. On April 5th at 2pm at Karpeles Museum the topic of discussion will be climate education and outreach, on April 10th at noon at the Damiano Center attendees will discuss climate activism and advocacy, and on Apr 13th at 6:30pm there is a dinner at Bread and Roses House to discuss future climate collaborations with local groups. These events are in addition to four different sponsored speakers that will be accessible via Zoom.
