Green Visions: SUN Delegation

The SUN Delegation has been working toward getting more solar power on the campus of the University of Minnesota Duluth and beyond. The group consists of students from many different educational paths.

Riya Milan, a mechanical engineering major and SUN delegation member, notes that the pandemic has been a hindrance to moving forward, but previous goals are still worth mentioning. "We got a 43kw array on the Oakland Aspen apartments," says Milan of a 2018 project. "This year we're planning on doing some smaller projects."

Achieving these green goals requires coordination between the office of sustainability, facilities management, and the student body. Petitions and presentations, as well as conversations, are a frequent path to success for the delegation.

Although the route forward involves plenty of complexity, for Milan, the mission is simple; "Get as much solar as we can."
