Backyard Almanac: "Awesome August" begins tomorrow!

Peter M. Dziuk/Minnesota Wildflowers

Much cooler weather seemed strange and remarkable this past week, but Larry Weber says, that's because temperatures dropped down to "normal" from nasty hot.

The second half of July failed to live up to the promise of the first half to break heat records, our above-average rainfall still hasn't made up the precip' deficit, but there's still plenty to celebrate. Think Perseids, the first stirrings of migration, coyote families "whooping it up," late summer wildflowers and more.
