We talk with Karina Heim, Coastal Training Program (CTP) Coordinator, Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve about tonight's River Talk, part of a monthly series of informal talks about the St. Louis River Estuary. This evening's topic is "Handling Hazards and Dealing with Disasters: Emergency Management in the Estuary."
When environmental emergencies and incidents happen in the watershed, agencies from the local to the federal level have different responsibilities and authorities. Details will be shared about those different roles by a panel of agency representatives who can provide insights into the structured world of emergency response.
The event begins at 7 pm at the Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve facility on Barkers Island in Superior. The series is presented by the Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve and the Minnesota and Wisconsin Sea Grant programs.
