There's just no creepy without creativity. The Halloween season is upon us, and at every spooky gathering there is a strong artistic consideration and flair.
The William A. Irvin is once again decked out with ghouls and ghosts for the Haunted Ship experience. Those looking for a scare can still experience the eeriness aboard the Irvin from Thursday-Saturday. Lines may be long in the final few days of the season. Advance tickets are available for purchase through the Haunted Ship website.
One of the more engaging Duluth neighborhoods during the Halloween season can be found on a stretch of 8th Street just west of 40th Avenue West. Houses are decorated with lights and frights, and character actors bring seasonal scares as well. "The way that they were able to engage in a theatrical way... was just an absolute delight," says Annie Dugan.
Additionally, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is being put on once again by Zenith City Horror, and the Lake Superior Scenic Railroad is running their Terror Train.
And not to be forgotten - costumes! Everywhere you go, there's a chance to see an artistic approach to how people choose to present themselves this Halloween, whether it's a mash-up, modern commentary, or multi-layered.
You can hear Where's Art every Monday morning at 8:20 on Northland Morning.
