Animals have descended on Lizzard's Art Gallery in downtown Duluth.
The new exhibit Phylum, Forma, Pictura: The Order of Being is on display right now and features animal focused work from a wide variety of local artists. "There's something in the zeitgeist right now that we want to be looking at animals and understanding the craziness of other animals and other species beyond us," suggests Annie Dugan. Some contributing artists include Wendy Rouse, Chris Monroe, Scott Murphy, Patricia Canelake, and many more.
At the Tweed, one of the exhibits on display encourages visitors to do some drawing of their own. Drawing From Life is on display through the spring. "It celebrates the simple direct connection between the hand and paper," says Dugan. "How we present the human form in that aspect." If you get the urge to do some drawing of your own, talk to a staff member at the museum and they'll get you set up with everything you need.
