For twenty-six years, the Lester River Rendezvous celebrated the culture and history of the voyageurs. That celebration has not changed, but the location and the name have.
On Saturday, September 26th from 10am-2pm is the inaugural St. Louis River Rendezvous. "We had to make a move. The event basically wasn't going to happen," says organizer Patrick Rohde. "I did a little bit of talking, a little exploring, and we found Billings Park."
For its first year in a new location, the Rendezvous will be scaled down a bit with most of the focus being on the re-creation of a Voyageur Village with traditional tools, shelters and re-enactors. "It's really a perfect spot to... almost step back in time while you're walking on that point along the St. Louis River," says Rohde.
