"It is very complex, it has big themes surrounding identity, surrounding family, relationships, race, police," says Mary Fox, Producing Artistic Director at Zeitgeist about the upcoming theatrical production of American Son on stage from September 24th through October 3rd.

"It is, I think, a beautiful show on humanity and the complexities that we are as human beings," says Fox. The story, written by Christopher Demos-Brown, focuses on an estranged bi-racial couple who are called to the police station regarding their child.

The cast includes local talent Zach Stofer, San Diego-based actor Marti Gobel, and Carl Crawford who makes stage appearances in the area from time to time. "As the story unfolds you think you know what is going to happen," says Fox. "That's not what happens."

The show runs 90-minues and will include discussions after the show. In an effort to make the show accessible to all, there is a free preview performance on Wednesday the 23rd and a pay-what-you-can performance on the 30th.

For more information and tickets, visit the Zeitgeist Theater website.
