Outdoor art and camp opportunities should still have us thinking summer, but if the smoke and the heat have you down, there's also creative gatherings to get your mind thinking about cooler things.
Ecolibrium3 has compiled a list of murals that can be found throughout Lincoln Park. There are QR codes at each location to learn more about the pieces and the artists. "I think murals and public art are just a wonderful way to celebrate the voices and the spirit... of our region," says Annie Dugan. For those still looking for ways for their youths to make the most of summer, Spirit of the Lake Community Arts is offering summer camps for kids to explore and create. A list of camps and classes can be found on the SOLCA website.
On Sunday, July 26th from 12-2pm is a Creepsmas Crafting Session. The Duluth Folk School is hosting an opportunity for folks to stop by and work on their Creepsmas costume. In December, Lincoln Park hosts a Creepsmas Parade, and if you want to have your costume ready, there's no better time than now to start.
At the Miller Hill Mall Barnes & Noble, Excalibur Con is hosting an anime art class. From 5-8pm on Wednesday, July 22nd, artist Jesse Switters will lead interested parties in how to draw anime. The event is free and open to the public.
