Where's Art: Silver Smelt Sightings

This weekend, Canal Park will be seeing silver. On Sunday, May 17th is the annual Magic Smelt Parade.

"The thing I love about the Magic Smelt Puppet Troupe Parade is all the homegrown creativity that goes with it," says Annie Dugan. "The handmade aspect of it." Folks from the area have put together costumes, masks and, of course, the Giant Smelt Queen. The parade kicks off in Canal Park at 3:30pm this Sunday and will culminate at Zeitgeist for a smelt fry and dancing.

For those looking to still create their own visual addition to the parade, there are two more official times to meet at Lafayette on Park Point to create with others. Open times are May 13th from 6-8pm and May 16th from 3-6pm.

Over at Hartley Nature Center, three new exhibits will be on display beginning at 1-3pm on Sunday. The topics of the new works include woods and water, invasives, and fire. And at Halcyon House, there is new work on display by Paul LaJeunesse whose work is largely paintings and murals focusing on community and location.

You can hear Where's Art every Monday morning at 8:20 on Northland Morning.
