The dark days of December continue, and for Annie Dugan, there's no better time to open a new book.
The new book Make (Sneaky) Art by Nishant Jain encourages artists to cultivate a regular drawing routine. "He invites you with prompts, with techniques, with ideas to sustain this lifelong sketchbook habit," says Dugan. "The more we use our hands to take notes, to sketch, we are wiring our brain in such a way that solidifies that information."
Fans of famed illustrator Edward Gorey are in luck. A new compendium titled E is for Edward is a focus on the artist and his work. Gorey was born in 1925, thus the new book is a centennial celebration. "You just can't help but have a little crooked smile," says Dugan about looking at Gorey's work.
And if your books are looking just a bit drab, consider bedazzling your books. Foxes and Fireflies are hosting a book bedazzling event at their location at 1401 Tower Avenue in Superior. More information about the Sunday, December 28th event can be found on the Foxes and Fireflies website.
You can hear Where's Art every Monday morning at 8:20 on Northland Morning.
