Making the 1975 film Jaws was an arduous journey that became all the more daunting with a title character that kept breaking down. Add three impatient and egotistical Hollywood actors, and you've got a dilemma.
The Shark is Broken is about the period during the making of Jaws when the three primary actors, Robert Shaw, Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss are sitting around on The Orca waiting because the shark is broken," says Justin Peck, Director of the stage play opening tonight and running through November 2nd at the Duluth Playhouse's Lab space in downtown Duluth. "You have these three giant egos squished into this tiny little room for months."
The play stars Zachary Stofer, Chris Ibarra, and John Pokrzywinski. "I have a killer cast," says Peck. "I had to, in the casting process, bring it down to who can embody the spirit of this person. It's not so much about the look or the particular age bracket, but I feel like the three of these performers... really embody the spirit of those men at that moment, and they work great together."
Presently, there are few tickets available, however, additional shows are being considered. Find out more about the show, tickets, and added shows on the Duluth Playhouse website.
