Bigger doesn't always mean better. Pocket-sized art is at the forefront this week.
In a similar spirit to "Free Little Libraries" patrons of the arts can now find "Free Little Art Galleries" popping up. Brianna Borka of West Duluth has set up a rotating display of tiny art in a small gallery that she has on constant display in her yard. Along with the artwork are various art supplies for anyone to take with them and make art of their own.
Cigarette machines, once a mainstay in public areas, are now being used as art. Art-o-mats are refurbished cigarette machines that - instead of distributing cigarettes - distribute art. There are locations in Minneapolis and St. Cloud. You can find Art-o-Mats all over the country.
Art Night Out at the DAI is happening this Thursday when two featured artists (Ellen Sandbeck and Tali Margolin) will be present from 5:30-8pm in the Duluth Art Institute downtown gallery in the upper level of the US Bank building.
You can hear Where's Art every Monday morning at 8:20 on Northland Morning.
