"Failure is funny," says Robert Lee, one of the actors in the comedy The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong, the Duluth Playhouse production opening this weekend at the NorShor. The 2012 farce that debuted in London saw a Broadway run in the late teens before finding its way to the Northland.
"This show is about a troupe of actors that have a great opportunity... everything up to this point has gone amazing," says Lee about the set-up of the show. However, the good fortune doesn't last, as one thing after another goes awry and the show is soon in shambles.
The story takes place in a theater, so there is no suspension of disbelief required for the audience. The fourth wall is broken even before the show begins, with characters working their way through the seats as theater-goes enter.
The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong opens on Friday, January 31st and goes through February 9th. Tickets are available through the Duluth Playhouse Box Office.
You can hear Community Connection every Tuesday and Thursday at 8am on Northland Morning.
