Visitors to Split Rock Lighthouse get to take in all the wonders of a visually stunning landscape and a historically significant site. Adding to the appeal is a gallery space that will feature a new artist every month from March through October.
But first, they need the art.
Through January 6th, artists can submit their 2-dimensional art for consideration. Eight artists will be selected, and beginning in March (when tourism begins to pick up for the season) "Photography and Art at the Rock" will feature the work of one artist each month.
"W wanted to add a new dimension... and support some local photographers and artists in the area. Kind of a way to showcase their talent and then also change up what the guest experience is," says Site Manager at Split Rock Lighthouse, Hayes Scriven, about the gallery which has now been a part of the Visitor Center for three years.
For artists interested in submitting, more information can be found on the Split Rock Lighthouse website.
You can hear Community Connection every Tuesday and Thursday at 8am on Northland Morning.
