For some, decorating early for the upcoming holidays is an event born from eagerness. For others, decorating early is a necessity. At Glensheen Mansion, the process requires two weeks and lots of hands.
"It is a lot of hours put in and a lot of planning going into this," says Dustin Heckman, Glensheen Director. In mid-November, Glensheen closes for a week to prepare the indoor space with Christmas trees and plenty of decorations. An additional week is required to decorate the grounds.
Thematically, Glensheen is focusing on Christmas stories this year. Self-guided tours will bring visitors from room to room where they'll be met with familiar sights harkening to common and classic tales. Additionally, original decorations from the Congdon family will also be on display, and the upcoming candlelight tours are also back for the holiday season.
