The American Indian Community Housing Organization (AICHO) has been offering shelter and support in the Duluth community since 1993. Today the efforts continue and are currently taking the form of a fundraising concert for the Dabinoo’Igan shelter.
Nicole Thole, Jenn Davey and Sasheen Goslin – as well as others – are working together to coordinate the One Community, Many Voices, Stop the Silence concert at the Norshor Theater on April 6th which will include musicians Annie Humphrey, Erik Koskinen, Keith Secola, and the Miziiwekaamikiinang Drum Group. Doors open at 6:30pm.
"It's really been amazing," says Davey. "The whole team has been working really hard." Although initial efforts are encouraging, the team recognizes that there is still a long way to go. Along with that recognition comes hope and determination. "This is Dabinoo’Igan's first large fundraiser," says Goslin. "As an organization we look forward to the future... and hopefully bigger next time."
All funds raised will go toward the expansion of the Dabinoo’Igan shelter. To buy tickets or make a donation, visit the AICHO website.
