The National Indigenous Women's Resource Center keeps getting calls wondering how they're using the money they got from the distribution of the movie Wind River.
At the end of 2017, as the accusations of rape and sexual harassment mounted against The Weinstein Company's chairman, Harvey Weinstein, the film's director, Taylor Sheridan, and the movie's primary financier reached agreement to have distribution royalties - potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars - redirected to the NIWRC instead.
But almost a year and a half later, it looks like the hoped-for windfall is a casualty of The Weinstein Company's bankruptcy -- and yet another broken promise.
