Women's Words on February 3, 2013 featured Duluthian Sue Sojourner reading an excerpt from her new book Thunder of Freedom: Black Leadership and the Transformation of 1960s Mississippi that has been published this month by the University Press of Kentucky.

Women's Words: February 3, 2013: Sue Sojourner

Sue [Lorenzi] Sojourner is a veteran of the civil rights movement who worked from fall 1964 through summer 1969 to help the black Holmes County, Mississippians build a viable, powerful, and effective political and social movement. In addition to her newly-published book Thunder of Freedom: Black Leadership and the Transformation of 1960s Mississippi, written in collaboration with UMD's own Cheryl Reitan, she has produced two photography exhibitions using reproductions of her original 1960s photographs.

Women's Words airs Sundays at 1:30pm and 3:30pm. Funding for Women's Words is provided by The Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
