Live from Studio A: Martha Scanlan and Jon Neufeld

Scanlan is a Minnesota native who's been based in Montana for many years, while Neufeld is a Chicago native who found his way to Portland, Oregon. Scanlan was previously in the Reeltime Travelers, who were featured on the soundtrack of the movie Cold Mountain, and Neufeld was a member of Black Prairie, among other projects. The two have been collaborating for well over a decade, first on Scanlan's albums and more recently under both their names. When they joined us in the studio on February 5, 2026 talked with us about their most recent release, Save it for Later, an EP of covers that came out in 2024, and performed some songs. They also shared what it was like having Robert Plant cover one of Scanlan's songs from her 2018 album The River and the Light (produced by Neufeld) on his most recent album.
