Live from Studio A: Pert Near Sandstone

In their two decades together, this Minnesota string band has toured extensively in the U.S. as well as making inroads in Europe. They helped start the Blue Music Festival in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and have curated the festival every year, connecting with legendary and up-and-coming roots performers alike. They returned to our studios on December 4, 2025 and performed songs from their 2023 album Waiting Days as well as a song written by Max Graham of Minnesota band Kind Country, who died in 2021. (They recorded the track for the compilation In My Mind: Tribute to Max Graham.) The band talked about their forthcoming album Side by Side, due out in February 2026. They once again recorded with Trampled by Turtles' Ryan Young, who was an original member of Pert Near. They also talked about band highlights from 2025, including returning to Europe for several festivals.
