This Brainerd singer/songwriter took longer than most to start her music career, putting out her first EP, Moon Child, at the age of 40 in 2022. It was an impressive debut, showcasing her distinctive voice, expressive finger-style guitar playing, and strong songwriting. She has since performed regularly around Minnesota and has new music in the works. Smith joined us in the studio on September 5, 2025; the North's Christine Dean talked with her about her unusual path to becoming a performing musician and she shared some new songs as well as a tune from her debut.
