Jane Irene Aleckson and her daughter Inga Ruth Weis make up this duo that covers a wide variety of musical genres in their covers and originals. Aleckson is a veteran local bass player whose performed with the Jane Gang, the Big Top Chautauqua’s Blue Canvas Orchestra, and numerous other projects through the years. For Lioness, she uses an octave divider on her electric guitar to allow her to play lead, rhythm and bass lines to accompany Weis’ unique drumming style and lead vocals. Listen to our session with them from May 5, 2023. We talked about how they started performing together and how they approach making music in this configuration, plus their plans for a performance space on Aleckson's farm. They performed the following evening as part of Duluth's Homegrown Music Festival.
