This week Minnesota Native News shares an interview with a Lakota college student about his personal efforts creating a supply drive for the Standing Rock camp, plus UMN discusses questions of tribal sovereignty and a new multi-media art event in Minneapolis focuses on Native identities.  Catch Minnesota Native News on KUMD on Sunday mornings at 7am and Monday afternoons at 4pm. 

Minnesota Native News is compiled and created by Ampers: Diverse Radio for Minnesota Communities, an umbrella group for independent, public, educational and tribal radio stations in Minnesota. 

Former Program Director, Maija Jenson teaches journalism in the Department of Communication at UMD and was a part of KUMD 2008-2019. She hosted a weekly arts program "Radio Gallery." She shares a lifetime of public radio listening, degrees in journalism and art and 20 years of public radio experience with KFAI, WHA, WSUM and KUMD.
