On this episode of Ojibwe Stories: Gaganoonididaa we welcome back Nancy Jones, a respected elder from Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nation near Fort Frances, Ontario.
She has worked for many years as a teacher and cultural advisor for schools and language revitalization programs in Ontario, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
She shares knowledge about being connected with the earth and the things on it – the rocks, the trees, the water, the animals, and other people in the community – and that it is vital to give them proper respect. Other topics include concepts of Anishinaabe religion, and offering children "time in" rather than giving them "time out."
