If you've looked to the west between 10-10:30pm at any point in the past week or two, there's little chance you've missed out on seeing both Venus and Jupiter. The two bright planets have been inching closer together, and on Tuesday night will be about a pinkie finger width apart with your arm outstretched. If clouds get in the way, there will still be chances to see them as they slowly begin drifting apart later this week.
And in case the bright sunny days haven't been reminder enough, in the early hours of Sunday, June 21st, it will officially be summer. The solstice is upon us and so begins what Bob King refers to as "the most authoritative season." Let the demands of summer begin.
You can hear Astro Bob's Backyard Astronomy every other Tuesday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
