What happens less often than a blue moon? How about a blue micro moon!
This May, there was a full moon on the 1st, thus the month was bound to see one more full moon. The second full moon of any given month is known as a blue moon - an uncommon occurrence that happens every few years. Although the human eye won't notice the difference in size, the moon is at its furthest point from earth this month, making it a "micro" moon. The rare, distant sighting will be overhead on May 30th.
If you're out after dark, keep your eyes to the west over the coming weeks to see a couple planets get ever closer. Jupiter and Venus will buddy up in the early days of June while Mercury tries to get in on the scene as well.
