Summertime is just around the corner, and the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin has a host of field trip options throughout the state to support activity, engagement, and education.

"Our mission is to protect Wisconsin lands, waters and wildlife," says Christine Tanzer, Field Trip Program Director with NRF. As a part of their mission, the Foundation also leads Field Trips. This year - the 33rd year of the program - there are 280 unique trips with space for 6,000 participants.

Trips are happening all across Wisconsin, and there are several happening relatively close to the Twin Ports. Lessons on foraging wild mushrooms will be happening near Bayfield, and canoe trips on the Namekagon River will explore birds, wildflowers, and turtle ecology.

Adjustments to program offerings have been made over the years to accommodate more people of a variety of abilities. Some of the trips are casual and accessible, while others are more adventurous and off the beaten path.

More information about the field trips and about becoming a member of the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin can be found on the NRF website.

You can hear Community Connection every Tuesday and Thursday at 8am on Northland Morning.
