Backyard Almanac: Happy Vernal Equinox!

Welcome to Spring! Today is the vernal equinox, bringing to most of the planet equal parts light and darkness.

Although we've seen some recent cold temps - St. Patrick's Day saw plenty of negative temps across the Northland - after the 20th of March rarely sees such low temps. The ten-day forecast doesn't suggest temperatures going against that norm.

With the warmer temps, lots of animals are on the move. Trumpeter Swans and Canada Geese are starting to show up in higher numbers, and tracks of all kinds of animals are showing up in the fleeting snow. In particular, wolf tracks are currently on the rise.

Happy Spring... whether it's actually here or not.
