Multiple wardrobe options seem to be a necessity in March. On any given day we could be waking up to sunny and 50 or snowy and blustery with temps in the single digits. Even though we're a week away from the calendar telling us it's spring, the meteorological sensibilities of the Northland are as unpredictable as ever.
For Larry Weber, the variables in the weather and ever-changing landscapes bring plenty of joy and wonder. Bird counts are underway for some of the early migrants. Fresh snow always means fresh animal tracks - and there are plenty of critters on the move and becoming livelier as the season slowly turns. And even the snow itself is something to watch. Each snow-covered morning could easily lead to a sunny afternoon that clears the sidewalks and roads.
So, winter ends next week... and maybe not just according to the calendar. Warmer temps are currently in the forecast for next week.
You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
