Looking back at meteorological winter, there are some numbers that might be surprising. Between December, January and February, the average temperature was about 12.5 degrees in the Northland - a few degrees cooler than typical. Also lower than average was the snowfall and the precipitation.
And that brings us to March. "All sorts of things can happen," says Larry Weber of the third month of the year. Already this month, we've had a temperature reading of -11 for a low and 48 for a high. Bigger swings in temps are not only possible, but expected. No weather is off the table when it comes to March; snowstorms, fog, wind, sunshine, thunderstorms... it's anyone's guess. "Keep your eyes open," says Weber. "It's gonna be an interesting trip."
