Backyard Almanac: The Meteorological End of Fall

When it comes to meteorology, we've reached the end of autumn. Although the equinox is still over three weeks away, for many, December 1st marks the end of fall and the beginning of winter.

The recent snowfall is not only a sign of the changing seasons, but also good news for many of the animals out there - most significantly, the snowshoe hare. With their fur changing to white, the hare is far less susceptible to predators now that there is snow to help with camouflage.

You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.

Luke Moravec is the host for Northland Morning on The North 103.3. He’s also a local actor, musician and writer. He loves puzzles, riddles and fun mysteries.
