Those with their eyes to the skies caught a wild display of aurora last Wednesday night. Bob King and many others got a great view from Hartley Park in Duluth. If you missed the sight, this week should offer a few more opportunities. Expect more northern lights on Wednesday and Thursday. Bob plans to keep folks up to date on his Facebook page: "Astronomy for Everyone".
For further afield views, break out the telescope. The interstellar comet 3Iatlas can be spotted crossing our solar system, and several moons of Jupiter can also be seen, if you're looking at the right time.
Looking ahead to November 17th, the Leonid meteor shower will be peaking between 2am and dawn. This year's shower won't be one of the big ones, like the Leonid Storm back in 1833, but it will still offer a chance to see some shooting stars stemming from Leo.
You can hear Astro Bob's Backyard Astronomy every other Tuesday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
