Clouds. The nemesis of any stargazer.
Bob King recently returned from a trip to Norway where he was on the hunt for the Northern Lights. After seven cloudy nights, the skies finally cleared for some awesome aurora sightings.
Back in the Northland, the clouds might again be playing spoiler to a different cosmic sighting. Comet Lemmon is working its way across the western skies in the evening. Without binoculars, the comet is visible and appears like a star. With binoculars, the tail of the comet is visually distinguishable.
But regardless of the power of your binoculars, there will be no spotting the comet if the clouds roll through in the evening. Here's hoping for clear skies.
You can hear Astro Bob's Backyard Astronomy every other Tuesday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
