If the smoke dissipates, there should be plenty to look out for in the night sky in the coming days.
August 9th will feature the next full moon. As an added bonus, Saturn will be cozying up just to the right of the moon. Three days later, the Perseid meteor shower will hit its peak. If the forecast is cloudy or smoky, going out a few days before or after should still yield some sightings of shooting stars.
Also on the horizon is a conjunction of two of the brightest objects in the night sky - Jupiter and Venus. The two plants will be within one degree of separation on the night of August 12th.
