As usually, there are plenty of cosmic happenings - and thanks to technology, there are more discoveries every day to keep us in awe of our universe.
Here in the Northland, keep your eyes open for Mercury getting close to the moon, particularly in the next couple days as a slim crescent begins to form. There's also a slight chance of aurora for the next two nights.
Meanwhile in the southern hemisphere, the Vera Rubin telescope on a mountaintop in Chile is capturing some rare images of our universe. New photography from the telescope is already busy cataloging and discovering new asteroids and comets, and offering radical new views of the cosmos.

You can hear Astro Bob's Backyard Astronomy every other Tuesday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
