"If I gave you a choice between aurora rays and shimmering curtains versus fizzing and popping aurora, which would you pick?" The question posed by Bob King has a sensible answer: fizzing and popping.
The James Webb Telescope has been getting a close look at Jupiter's aurora, and it looks a bit different than the aurora we experience here on Earth. "It totally surprised scientists," says Bob King. NASA has posted a time lapsed video of the activity online. It seems that Jupiter's volcanic moon Io might have something to do with the way aurora is experienced on our solar system's largest planet.
Closer to home, the Flower Moon found clear skies last night, and the International Space Station will be making a pass tonight in the 9 o'clock hour.
