While the snow may block our daytime sky, according to Astro Bob, tonight has the chance to be spectacular.

We are in for a clear night tonight. That will be helpful as the Northern Lights could make an appearance this evening. Solar filament recently erupted from the surface of the sun travel to Earth and cause the beautiful aurora colors. Amateur astronomers better get to bed early to see it, however. If the Aurora Borealis is to make an appearance, it will most likely be in the morning hours.

You also might be able to see a new comet that has been discovered recently. Comet SWAN25F was discovered by a team of amateur astronomers digging through publicly available satellite imagery. While it may be visible in the early morning hours tomorrow, in the next few days it should transition to our evening sky, giving everyone a better chance to sneak a peek.

You can hear Astro Bob's Backyard Astronomy every other Tuesday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
