Now that the Pi Minute Eclipse has come and gone, we can now look to the future for the next total lunar eclipse - and it's actually closer than you might think.
"In just one year, next March 2nd, we will have another total eclipse for the moon for our region," said Bob King. It's uncommon for our region to have total eclipses a year a part, but not totally unprecedented.
In non-lunar news, spring will officially begin at 4:01am on Thursday the 20th of March. On that day, on the equator, the sun is directly overhead, which is the astronomical signal to flip our season calendar.
Lastly, the astronauts that went up to the ISS last summer will finally be coming home today around 5:00pm. While they are reportedly enjoying their time in space, there is equal evidence about their excitement to return to Earth.
You can hear Astro Bob's Backyard Astronomy every other Tuesday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
