It's time to give some credit to the cows. The symbiotic relationship with cattle and the land is a simple one; the cows eat the grass, the grass gets fertilized by the cows. Through this natural cycle, healthy soil can be maintained.
However, issues with this process can arise, necessitating intervention. The Carlton County Soil & Water Conservation District is hosting a Supper and Soil Health event on May 8th from 6-8pm. The program will include a buffet dinner followed by opportunities for landowners to learn about managing mud, improving water quality, and soil health benefits. There will also be a panel of local farmers to answer questions.
Although the information at the evening's event can be scaled for those who own smaller areas of land (such as in urban areas), the SWDC is reaching out specifically to area farmers for the Supper and Soil Health event on May 8th at Wrenshall High School.

You can hear Green Visions at 8:20am every Wednesday on Northland Morning.
