Backyard Almanac: Spring's Snowy Start

March is over, but that doesn't mean that Spring is here to stay. According to our resident expert Larry Weber, the amount of snow the Northland got on April 2 was more than the entire month of March. It could be indicative of a snowy month to come, or it could be a one-off. With April, there's really no telling what could happen.

The raptor count continues at Enger Tower and West Skyline, with bald eagles remaining in the top migrator spot. Other non-raptor migrants showing up include Canada geese, trumpeter swans, sandhill cranes, ducks, heron, and kingfisher. The songbirds continue their melody as more and more come back from the South for the spring.

There have been reports of bears waking up for their hibernation, so if you are out tracking animals, stay safe.

You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
