As March comes to a close, it's a time to look back and reflect on what was a pretty warm month weather wise. According to our resident expert Larry Weber, March this year was at least 4°F above normal. The warmest day hit 62°F and the coldest landed at 2°F, with only about 4 inches of snowfall.

The raptor count continues at Enger Tower this month. The national bird continues to make the headlines, as over 3,000 bald eagles have been spotted. In the world of smaller critters, chipmunks are out and about this time of year looking for food. The trees are also starting to bud, namely the Silver Maple. It's only a matter of time before this year's syrup harvest will be ready to spread on your morning pancakes.

You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
