With the books officially closed on 2024, the numbers are now conclusive. Every month of 2024 was warmer than average. It was a warm year with odd precipitation values to boot.

As 2025 goes, the big news is regarding parahelia - the time of the year when Earth is closest to the sun. There are also birds to see, as not all Christmas Bird Counts have quite come to a close. And Larry Weber is keeping his eyes open for animal tracks, but that task has become difficult with the lack of snow.

You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.

Luke Moravec is the host for Northland Morning on The North 103.3. He’s also a local actor, musician and writer. He loves puzzles, riddles and fun mysteries.
