After a year off, it looks like it'll be a white Christmas in the Northland. The recent snow also comes just in time to couple with the shortest day of the year. The Winter Solstice is Saturday, December 21st and will be limited to about eight and a half hours of daylight.
For Larry Weber, the fresh snow means a clean slate for spotting new animal tracks, and the next few weeks also presents an opportunity for bird watching - particularly for one of the various Christmas Bird Counts in the area.
You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
